K9 mail android12/18/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() This feature has been removed from the Play store version now. My guess is this is because of the usage of favicons, which will use the domain name of email addresses to fetch info. There will be no further development and no more support.Īccording to Google FairEmail is spyware because it uploads the contact list. Marcel Bokhorst has announced that after yet another brick wall interaction with Google, he is ending development of his popular (in the right circles) open source email client FairEmail.Īll my projects have been terminated after Google falsely flagged FairEmail as spyware without a reasonable opportunity to appeal. As well as many others.īy the way, how do you receive FairEMAil automatic updates outside Google Play. And another great application falls victim to Google’s absolute disdain for Android developers. Also to the independent developer of VoIP.ms' Android App. In the past, I have contributed to the late Mark Crispin for his Panda IMAP server (even though UW IMAP could be had for free). ![]() I'm sure that if the free version of FairEmail isn't crippled and I start using it after playing with it, I would contribute something to the developer. Unless I'm mistaken, FairEmail's developer accepts cash donations outside Google Play. What I object to, is developers who cripple their software until they receive their ounce of flesh. ![]() I, too, support open source developers, as long as Google Play isn't involved. So I have no problem paying/donating for apps I use. If someone has spent a lot of time developing an app that I use all the time, the least I can do is send him/her several $ to support continued development. As for "free" or not, my feeling is that we need to support developers. ![]()
